Indianapolis Road to close at 7 p.m. Wednesday

Monday, April 1, 2019

Vectren Energy Delivery and its contractor will be closing Indianapolis Road between Percy Julian Drive and Kroger in Greencastle at approximately 7 p.m. on Wednesday, April 3 to install a gas new line across the road.

Work will take place east of Kentwood Drive.

Access to Kroger, and adjacent businesses, and Headley Hardware will be able to be made from the west end of Indianapolis Road.

Access to McDonald's will be from Percy Julian Drive, while access to Verizon Wireless can be made from its driveway off Fawn View Lane.

Vectren and its contractor will post flaggers at each end of the road closure to assist residents in reaching their homes.

Work is expected to take one night with the road to be reopened at approximately 6 o'clock the following morning, Thursday, April 4.

If issues arise, the road may be closed during the evening of April 4.

The new gas line is part of preparations for the overall road improvement project that will include road widening (including a third lane), drainage work and sidewalks along both sides of Indianapolis Road.

The $1.16 million project carries a substantial completion date of July 31. General contractor is Frank C. Feutz Contractors, Paris, Ill., the same firm that did the repaving and widening of Percy Julian Drive in 2011.

At the city's most recent Board of Works meeting, Mayor Bill Dory stressed that access will be maintained to all businesses along the route throughout construction.
