Ronald Lee Hazel

Ronald Lee Hazel, 71, Sumrall, Miss., passed away after a year-long battle with cancer on Friday, April 5, 2019.

He was born on Dec. 22, 1947 in Indianapolis.

Ron was a member of the United State Coast Guard. He was a 1966 graduate of Reelsville High School.

He was a logger and real estate entrepreneur for more than 30 years in Idaho and recently operated his own papaya farm in Maui, Hawaii.

Ron is survived by his wife, Sarah Hazel; stepson Johnny Conners; two granddaughters, Shaira and Emiri Conners; two brothers, Gary Hazel and David Hazel; and two sisters, Nancy Baumann and Diana Higgins.

He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Audrey Hazel; one brother, Mike Hazel; and two sisters, Donna Luttrell and Kathy Hazel.

Ron loved life and to him it was always sunny no matter what the mood or weather. He had a gentle soul and a heart of gold.

He loved farming, football and the ocean. He adored spending time with his friends and family.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the American Cancer Society.
