Sheriff’s Department

Putnam County sheriff’s deputies investigated one recent property-damage crash.

• At 5:39 a.m. on Monday, Tad O. Foote, 49, Spencer, was westbound on U.S. 40, turning southbound onto State Road 243 in a 2016 Freightliner tractor-trailer registered to Bulk First.

Foote told Lt. Donnie Pettit a vehicle in front of him turned northbound onto County Road 75 West and he didn’t notice an oncoming car, so he turned in front of it.

Barbara R. Grigsby, 59, Brazil, was eastbound in a 1993 Chevrolet Cavalier. When the semi turned in front of her, she could not avoid hitting it in the fuel tank area.

Neither driver was injured.

The car was towed. Pettit, who was assisted at the scene by Deputy Scott Ducker, estimated damage at $5,000-$10,000.
