Brazil Band sets rehearsals for 2019

BRAZIL -- The 161-year-old Brazil Concert Band will conduct its first and second rehearsals for the 2019 season on Tuesday, May 14 and Tuesday, May 21.

Rehearsals will begin at 7 p.m. in the band room at Northview High School in Brazil.

Local musicians are invited to join the Brazil Concert Band. Candidates must be at least a high school freshman.

On Tuesday, May 28, the band’s third rehearsal ,and every Tuesday rehearsal will be at the Forest Park bandshell at 7 p.m. rain or shine. In case of rain, all rehearsals and concerts are at the Forest Park pavilion.

Sunday concerts in June concerts are scheduled for June 2, 9, 16, 23 and 30. The one-hour concerts begin at 8 p.m. with the exception of the June 30 concert that will begin at 7:30 p.m. and last 90 minutes.

Sunday concerts in July are July 7, 14, 21 and 28, all at 8 p.m.

Sunday concerts in August concerts are Aug. 4, 11 and 18 at 8 p.m.

The band’s Grand Finale Concert on Sunday Aug. 25 begins at 7:30 p.m.

To play at a concert, musicians must attend the Tuesday rehearsal before the concert.

Uniforms consist of black or navy slacks or skirt with dark shoes and a Brazil Concert Band Polo Shirt that can be purchased from BCB President Darlene Shepard.
