Spring property tax installments due May 10

Monday, April 22, 2019

Property owners in Putnam County have until Friday, May 10 to pay the spring installment of their 2018 payable 2019 property taxes.

Putnam County Treasurer Kathy Minnick said that all tax statements had been mailed by April 10.

Minnick indicated the statements have a more user-friendly format this year though they all should have been delivered in the familiar pink envelopes.

Anyone who has not received a bill may request a duplicate by contacting the Putnam County Treasurer’s Office at 653-4510 or treasurer@putnamcountyin.us.

Failure to receive a statement will not relieve property owners of paying taxes or penalties that may be due.

Besides the spring installment due on May 10, the fall installment is due on Tuesday, Nov. 12.

Taxes may be paid at any of the following banks located in Putnam County: First Financial, First National, Old National, North Salem or Tri-County. Taxpayers must bring their tax statements if they want to pay at the bank. The banks will not accept a payment after the due date.

Taxes may also be paid online at www.co.putnam.in.us/Treasurer/, over the phone, at the Putnam County Treasurer’s Office, or by mail to PO Box 508, Greencastle, IN 46135. To ensure a penalty is not added, the envelope must be postmarked on or before the due date.

The Putnam County Treasurer’s Office will accept cash, check, money order, or credit/debit cards.
