Sheriff’s Department

Putnam County sheriff’s deputies investigated five recent property-damage crashes.

• At 12:50 a.m. on Sunday, Jakob H. Brown, 18, Crawfordsville, was eastbound on U.S. 36 near County Road 600 West in a 2003 Chevrolet C/K 1500 when he hit a deer.

Deputy Randy Patrick noted that fog was thick at the time of the incident.

Damage was estimated at $1,000-$2,500.

• At 4:20 a.m. on Saturday, Tiffany L. Collisi, 19, Roachdale, was northbound on County Road 275 East in a 2013 Buick Verano when it crossed left of center and exited the west side of the road and hit a tree.

Upon the arrival of deputies, Collisi’s first words to Deputy Robert Soilleux were, “Am I going to jail?” When asked why, she admitted to drinking prior to driving.

Collisi told Soilleux and Deputy Patrick she was on her way home from a party because her ex-boyfriend had showed up. She said she was in a panic, upset, crying and texting when she lost control of her vehicle.

Collisi complained of pain in her left jaw area and lower lip and had what appeared to be fresh cuts to her left lower lip as well as a small bump on her forehead.

Although she refused treatment at the scene, Collisi was taken to Putnam County Hospital for treatment and for a chemical test.

She tested at .01 alcohol concentration equivalent, which is well below the legal limit for driving, but still beyond the limit for a minor.

Collisi was charged with illegal consumption of alcohol by a minor.

The car was towed. Soilleux estimated damage at $10,000-$25,000.

• At 12:47 a.m. on Saturday, River D. Buis, 19, Greencastle, was southbound on County Road 490 West near the 6500 North block when a deer ran into the passenger side of his 2013 Ford Focus.

Deputy Patrick estimated damage at $2,500-$5,000.

• At 1:37 a.m. on Wednesday, Brett M. Berry, 23, Rockville, was southbound on U.S. 231 in a 1997 Toyota Corolla when he hit a deer.

Deputy Soilleux estimated damage at $5,000-$10,000.

• At 6:09 a.m. on Wednesday, April 10, Taylor Henderson, 23, Terre Haute, was southbound on Manhattan Road in a 2014 Kia Optima when she hit a deer.

Deputy Tanner Brown estimated damage at $1,000-$2,500.
