Inspiration in Bloom

Tuesday, April 23, 2019
Taking advantage of a pleasant spring day, Lavinia Hale of Greencastle paints a landscape near the intersection of Cemetery Road and Keightly Road Tuesday afternoon. Hale noticed the lavender in the meadow on the way home from church Sunday and thought it would be a nice subject for a painting. “I know it’s a weed, but I think it’s pretty,” she said. The flowers are part of a 10-acre pollinator habitat established north of Forest Hill Cemetery last spring. Hale’s inspiration from nature is appropriate this week, as the Greencastle Arts Council, of which she is a member, will host the annual Bonne Soirée Friday, featuring art inspired by the DePauw Nature Park.
