First Friday races into May

As weather warms up, so does the action at Lincoln Park Speedway and other dirt tracks around the state.

Couple this with the Greatest Spectacle in Racing coming up in a few weeks, and Main Street Greencastle, along with monthly sponsor Prime Real Estate, will have a racing theme for the First Friday event on Friday, May 3.

Featured will be cars from Lincoln Park Speedway, as well as a 20-foot inflatable racing slide.

Festivities will get under way at 6 p.m., with music featured at three locations at various points throughout the evening.

Local favorites War Radio will play the north courthouse stage. Meanwhile, Southbound 69 will be set up on South Indiana Street. The Rebekah Meldrum Band will play at Wasser Brewing Co.

The Bearded Painter, Rick Johnston, will have a featured exhibit at 15 Franklin St. thanks to Rashell Harcourt of Greencastle Accommodations.

Johnston will be exhibiting an extensive number of his paintings, which he sells for local non-profits.

Besides the racing, music and art, First Friday will of course feature food and drink specials from a variety of downtown restaurants and food vendors.
