County Jail

Three people were booked in the Putnam County Jail recently.

Tuesday

• At 4:25 a.m. Jeremiah Fredrick Sheffler, 41, Plainfield, was housed at the jail on a local warrant.

• At 3:24 a.m. Timothy Lee Fowler, 56, Indianapolis, was booked in on a local warrant.

Monday

• At 11:58 a.m. Charles Thomas Turpin, 24, Plainfield, was lodged at the jail for auto theft, criminal trespass, unauthorized entry of a motor vehicle and resisting law enforcement.

City Police

Three recent property-damage accidents were investigated by Greencastle City Police.

• At 10:06 a.m. Sunday, a two-vehicle mishap was reported on Bloomington Street near Block Street as Logan Pizzo, 28, Greencastle, reportedly missed the turn onto Block Street and attempted to back his 2000 Ford van when it struck a 2016 Kia, driven by Danielle Long, Crawfordsville.

Total damage in the accident was listed by Officer Darrel Bunten at less than $1,000.

Pizzo was issued a citation for driving with a suspended license with a prior offense.

• At 4:10 p.m. Wednesday, April 24, a two-vehicle accident was reported on College Avenue at Franklin Street.

Monte Rader, 52, Greencastle, was southbound on College Avenue, approaching Franklin Street in a 2006 Dodge Ram, when his vehicle was struck by an eastbound 2008 Acura, driven by Jalen Strange, 16, Coatesville.

Strange was approaching the stopsign at College Avenue when his car slid on wet pavement into the intersection and the path of Rader’s vehicle.

Officer Kyle Lee estimated total damage at $2,500-$5,000.

• At 3:05 p.m. Wednesday, April 24, a two-vehicle accident was reported on Bloomington Street near Maple Avenue.

Chance Evans, 19, Greencastle, was forced to stop his 1995 Ford F-150 suddenly due to a vehicle in front of him stopping to make a left turn, Officer Brad Hiatt reported.

Following behind Evans in a 2010 GMC Acadia, Melina Moore, 32, Greencastle, was unable to stop in time without running into the rear of the Evans vehicle, Hiatt noted.

Total damage in the accident was listed at $1,000-$2,500.

City Fire

The Greencastle Fire Department recently logged one medical assist.
