Closing Time

Tuesday, May 7, 2019
After delays from rain, false starts and other issues, the Indianapolis Road detour is now in operation in Greencastle. Detour signs have been erected and traffic is now one-way westbound on Indianapolis Road from Percy Julian Drive to the traffic signal at Kroger. At the Kroger signal, eastbound traffic that did not detour onto Washington Street will have to turn left into Kroger or right into Family Video/Jimmy John’s. Eastbound traffic is not permitted east of the Kroger traffic light. Citizens are encouraged to use Washington Street, Shadowlawn Avenue, Albin Pond Road and State Road 240 as alternate routes to avoid the construction area. Substantial completion of the project is expected by July 31. Once finished, Indianapolis Road will feature a three-lane section with a full-length center turn lane and sidewalks on both sides. Storm drainage improvements are also part of the project. General contractor for the $1.16 million construction project is Feutz Contractors Inc., Paris, Ill.
