Nancy Carlene Huffman

Nancy Carlene Huffman, 76 of Bainbridge, passed away on Tuesday, May 7, 2019.

She was born on Sept. 29, 1942 to the late Carl and Cecilia (Evrard) Stoyeff in St. Louis, Mo.

Nancy married Alton Lyn Huffman on Dec. 23, 1960 at St. John's Lutheran in Arnold, Mo. He preceded her in death.

Nancy was a 1960 graduate of Fox High School in Arnold, Mo., where she made lifelong friends and she often shared stories of her favorite time of life.

She worked as the town clerk of Cloverdale for one term.

She attended DePauw University and received her EMT certification in 1979. She received extension credits at Vincennes University in 1984, and then attended Indiana Vocational Technical College where she was on the dean's list for four quarters and received her LPN.

She started working at Putnam County Hospital on the Med/Surg floor as a CNA, and then transferred to ER as an EMT for Putnam County Operation Life. She later retired from the Plainfield Juvenile Correctional Facility. Upon retirement she worked for a short time at the Asbury Towers Retirement Facility in Greencastle.

Nancy was a member of Peace Lutheran Church in Greencastle.

She enjoyed fishing, gardening, and when she was younger she loved camping, water skiing and riding bikes. She was an avid seamstress, loved music, singing, dancing, and dearly loved her grandchildren.

Her philosophy was "You can do anything you put your mind to," which she lived by example.

She is survived by son Robert (Melissa) and their children, Amie (Christian Jr.) Easton, Avery (Ian) Kempf, Haley (Wesley) Smith, Daniel, Shelby, John, Aaron, Mark, Jacy, Riley, Cagney, Montgomery, Luke, Silas and Zachariah Huffman; daughter-in-law Kandi Huffman and children Michael Goode, Nicole Barnes and Shane Huffman; 11 great-grandchildren, sisters Sandy (Steve Slavik) Vance and Patricia Chambers, brother Carl G. Stoyeff Jr. (Kristen), eight nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son Kenneth Huffman and great-granddaughter, Laney Easton.

Funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, May 11 at Peace Lutheran Church, 1421 S. Bloomington St., Greencastle, with Pastor Matt Schneider officiating. Burial will follow in Bainbridge Cemetery.

Friends may visit with the family on Saturday from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. at the church.
