Sheriff’s Department

Putnam County sheriff’s deputies investigated four recent property-damage crashes.

• At 3:30 p.m. on Sunday, Randy W. Runnells, 54, Fillmore, was westbound on Deer Creek Drive in a 1978 Chevrolet G10 when he struck a tree in the yard northeast of the intersection with Valley View Drive.

The truck continued across the intersection and off the road on the southwest side.

Runnells was charged with driving with a suspended license.

He was also charged with possession of a handgun without a permit, obliterating identification marks on a handgun or possession of such a handgun, resisting law enforcement and disorderly conduct.

• At 5:02 p.m. on Saturday, Cody T. Belledin, 29, Indianapolis, was eastbound on U.S. 36 in a 2015 Subaru Forester. Pablo Wesin Baez Dilone, 40, Indianapolis, was eastbound behind Belledin in a 2012 Toyota RAV4.

Belledin told Deputy Jeffery Freeman he turned on his right turn signal, as he intended to turn right onto County Road 475 East. However, when he reached the intersection, Belledin instead attempted to turn left into a driveway.

Seeing Belledin’s right turn signal, Baez Dilone attempted to pass him on the left, at which time Belledin abruptly turned left and into his path.

Both vehicles were towed. Freeman estimated damage at $5,000-$10,000.

• At 12:13 p.m. on Saturday, Jason L. Dean, 43, Cloverdale, was southbound on State Road 243 approaching County Road 940 South in a 2007 Chevrolet Trailblazer.

Dean told Deputy Scott Ducker his tire blew out, causing him to lose control. When he pressed the brake, nothing happened and he could not slow down.

The SUV hit the stop sign of the westbound exit ramp of Interstate 70, went off the road and traveled about 200 feet before hitting a utility pole.

The vehicle was towed. Damage was estimated at $2,500-$5,000.

• At 11:06 a.m. Zachary A. Lee, 48, Westfield, was backing out of a driveway on County Road 300 North, Fillmore, in a 2017 Chevrolet Express van registered to Donlen Trust. Phyllis A. Loveless, 72, Sullivan, was westbound in a 2013 GMC Sierra.

Lee told Deputy Ducker he thought the driveway belonged to Loveless and that she had stopped. As he backed out, he struck the driver’s side of the Loveless vehicle.

Ducker estimated damage at $5,000-$10,000.
