First Friday returns with luau

Monday, June 3, 2019

Depending on your definition of summer, it’s either just around the corner or already here.

With that in mind, Aames Title and Bear Threads Boutique are inviting everyone to don their Hawaiian shirts, flip flops and even a grass skirt or two for the June installment of First Friday in downtown Greencastle June 7.

With the luau theme in mind, Aames is providing a photo backdrop to take pictures, while Bear Threads is sponsoring a limbo game in which competitors will see “How low can you go?” for prizes to local businesses such Dairy Castle, Crickets, Conspire, Myers’ Market and others.

Heather Taylor State Farm office is providing free leis to everyone and the guys with Hogg Wild BBQ are doing a hog roast.

This is also DePauw’s alumni weekend and the university will have a tent set up to pass out gold and black leis.

While the music for the night may not feature ukuleles and steel guitars, music on three stages promises a festive night as well.

Zeke’s Bones will play the north courthouse stage at 7 p.m.

War Radio will play the Moore’s Bar stage on South Indiana Street beginning at 7:30 p.m.

Veteran Indiana favorite Jennie DeVoe will play the Wasser Brewing Co. stage at 8 p.m.

In between, the night promises lots of food and drink, specials from downtown businesses and a chance to enjoy a summer night in downtown Greencastle.
