Dorothy Kay Childress

Dorothy Kay (Dobson) Childress, 69, of Stilesville, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family on Monday, June 3, 2019.

She was born on June 14, 1949 in Putnam County to John and Lois Dobson.

She married Wayne Childress on Oct. 26, 1969. He preceded her in death on Jan. 14, 1996.

Dorothy was a 1967 graduate of Reelsville High School.

She worked for the Mill Creek School Corporation for more than 30 years, retiring in 2004. She was an avid reader and spent more than 40 years researching her family tree and the history of Owen and Putnam Counties.

Dorothy is survived by a son, Brian Childress of Stilesville; brothers Larry Dobson of Brazil and Johnny Dobson of Manhattan; sisters Marilynn Walden of Greencastle, Nancy Gardner of Florida, Martha Kendall of Manhattan and Becky Jaeger of California.

A private service of family only is planned. Cremation Arrangements were entrusted to Light Memorial & Funeral Chapel in Monrovia.
