PUTNAMVILLE — Dustin Beck made the long trip north to Lincoln Park Speedway from his Petersburg home worth the haul on Saturday night.

Beck annually makes a couple of trips to the Putnamville oval, but this weekend he claimed the top spot in the UMP Modified feature to record the Mid-Season Championship feature win by holding off Tim Prince down the stretch of the 25-lap A-main.

Shane Cockrum dueled AJ Hopkins through the second half of the sprint car feature before making a last corner pass stick to pick up another victory at LPS.

Bryce Shidler won the UMP Super Stock feature over Josh Boller and Justin Litton took the win in the bomber division over Tyler Neal.

Beck and Prince fought side-by-side through the first five laps of the modified feature as a string of cautions slowed the procession.

However, once the field finally strung together some green flag laps, Beck made his move to the top spot and eventually opened up breathing room over the second half of the feature.

Meanwhile, Prince had his own gap over third-place running Rob Brickert on the way to the finish line as Jake Leitzman powered home to a fourth-place result ahead of Carlos Bumgardner.

The sprint car feature looked like it might be a blowout win by Cockrum, who started on the front row alongside Travis Berryhill. However, Cockrum took the early point and opened up a sizable gap until he ran into lapped traffic at the midway point. A caution flag came out to reset the field on lap 13 and changed the complexion of the race.

On the re-start, Hopkins made a slider challenge in turn four and the maneuver stuck briefly as he snagged the lead over Cockrum. Another caution would slow the field and set up a dash for the winner’s share over the final nine laps.

Hopkins still held the top spot with five laps to go and was masterfully working the cushion as Cockrum gave chase. The leaders found lapped traffic with two laps to go and Hopkins got held up in turn one as Cockrum and Hopkins made contact. Hopkins kept the lead heading into the final two corners, but Cockrum made his own slide attempt into turn four and hammered the throttle on exit. The Benton, Ill., native was able to narrowly hold off Hopkins by a half car length at the finish line. Brady Short took third ahead of Mario Clouser and Josh Hodges.

In the UMP Super Stock main event, Shidler took the lead into the fifth lap after starting on the front row and did not look back.

Boller made his challenges to Shidler throughout the entirety of the final 15 laps, but Shidler was up to the task in claiming the feature win. Larry Raines came home third ahead of Steve Peeden and Josh Litton.

In the bomber feature, Justin Litton started on the pole and remained out front the rest of the way. Neal pulled even with Litton on the white flag lap when a caution flag came out.

On the restart, Litton and Neal raced the wire out of the final two corners with Litton holding Neal off at the finish line. Barry Hicks placed third ahead of Jeff Allen and Megan Cavaness.
