‘Shrek’ auditions set Sunday, Monday at PCPH

Even as “She Loves Me” finishes up its run at the Putnam County Playhouse and cast and crew work hard on the July production of “Send Me No Flowers,” work has already started on the August production of “Shrek the Musical.”

Director Lee Reberger will have two sessions of auditions for the production at Putnam County Playhouse. The first session will be Sunday, June 16 at 3 p.m. and again Monday, June 17 at 7 p.m. at the Hazel Day Longden Theatre in Greencastle.

Those wishing to audition should prepare a short musical selection and bring sheet music. An accompanist will be provided. A short dance audition will also be conducted.

Among the roles to be filled are the hero Shrek, his best friend Donkey, Princess Fiona, an ensemble including Gingy and Pinocchio as well as other storybook characters and Lord Farquaad.

Younger versions of Shrek (age 8-13) and Fiona (child 8-13, teen 14-18) will also be cast.

The musical will be produced Aug. 15-17 and 21-24. It is being sponsored by Bittles & Hurt and Hopkins Rector Funeral Homes.

In the meantime, for more productions of “She Loves Me” remain Wednesday through Saturday and “Send Me No Flowers” will run July 11-13 and 17-20.

The final production of the 58th season of the Putnam County Playhouse will be “Picnic” Sept. 12-14 and 18-21.

Tickets for any of these shows are available by calling the box office at 653-5880 from 5-7 p.m. (or curtain) on performance weeks only. Individual tickets are $10.

All shows start at 8 p.m.
