State Road 236 closing June 25 in Hendricks County

Thursday, June 13, 2019

NORTH SALEM — The Indiana Department of Transportation recently announced State Road 236 will close just under half a mile east of State Road 75 on or after Tuesday, June 25, weather permitting.

The project will remove the bridge over the abandoned railroad and lower the road approximately seven feet to improve sight distance and enhance the safety for the motoring public.

The official detour follows S.R. 75 to U.S. 36 to State Road 39 and back to S.R. 236. The roadway is scheduled to reopen at the end of August.

This project was awarded to Morphey Construction Inc. for $1.39 million.

The plan also includes replacing a small structure with a bridge on U.S. 36 at the west end of Danville. The contractor is currently in the process of building a temporary run around for traffic.

This portion of the project is scheduled to be completed in early September.

INDOT reminds motorists to use caution and consider worker safety when driving through a construction zone.
