ROCKVILLE — The Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) has announced U.S. 36 will close on or after Monday, July 15 west of Rockville.

The contractor will be replacing a small structure just east of Cooke Road. The road is scheduled to reopen at the end of September.

The official detour follows U.S. 36 to State Road 63 to State Road 163 to U.S. 41.

White Construction Co. was awarded this contract for $1.49 million. This project also included the intersection improvement in Lyford that was completed last year.

INDOT reminds motorists to follow the posted work zone speed limit, use caution and consider worker safety when traveling through a construction zone.

Motorists can learn about highway work zones and other traffic alerts at indot.carsprogram.org, 1-800-261-ROAD (7623) or 511 from a mobile phone.
