Reelsville customers to expect income survey

Monday, July 22, 2019

The Putnam County Commissioners and the Reelsville Water Authority are attempting to qualify for a Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) through the Office of Community and Rural Affairs (OCRA), and is currently seeking grant funding to complete a water construction improvements project.

The CDBG program is a federally-funded grant program intended to benefit a majority of low-to-moderate income persons with various community development public assistance projects such as planning studies and improvements to community centers, fire stations, wastewater, water, etc.

To receive the federally-funded grant dollars, a special income survey must be completed.

If residents receive an income survey in the mail from Kristy Jerrell from Jerrell Consulting & Grant Administration Services LLC, this means they have been randomly selected to participate in this process. The survey must be completed fully and returned in the self-addressed stamped envelope as soon as possible.

Please contact Kristy Jerrell, the project’s grant administrator, at 812-878-0826 with any questions regarding the project or the income survey.

The Putnam County Commissioners and the Reelsville Water Authority could be eligible for up to $700,000 in grant money to complete a water construction improvements project. The program is funded with Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) dollars from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD).

The goal of the program is to encourage communities with eligible populations to focus on long-term community development. This grant is awarded and administered by the Lt. Governor’s Office.

The first step toward going for an OCRA grant is to complete a required income survey. As soon as the income survey is completed – and if the survey qualifies – then the Putnam County Commissioners and the Reelsville Water Authority are eligible to apply for OCRA grant dollars to complete construction improvements to their water system.
