James Robert ‘Jim’ Green

James Robert “Jim” Green, 75, went to be with the Lord on July 21, 2019 in Greencastle.

He was born March 24, 1944, the son of James Frederick and Willa Rose Worrell Green.

He graduated from Greencastle High School with the class of 1963. He married Joyce Ann Martin on June 13, 1965.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers-in-law William Oatess, John Newgent and Ronald Hansen.

He is survived by his wife, Joyce Green; daughter Bobbi Jo Green Basore (Rob); special son Michael Johnson; grandchildren Anna Nicole Basore, Caleb Allen Basore, Kyle Johnson and Kenlee Johnson; brother Frederick Joseph Green (Angela); and sisters Willa Rose Newgent, Mary Elizabeth (Oatess) Grau (Richard), Jane Ellen Hansen and Freida Green West (Jon).

Jim learned his profession from his father and obtained his journeyman’s plumber license and was employed at the Indiana Youth Center, Indiana Boys School and the Indiana State Farm. He was also employed with the City of Greenastle at Forest Hill Cemetery and retired from the wastewater treatment plant.

He belonged to and held offices in Temple Lodge No. 47, Order of Eastern Star No. 255 and received the meritorious service from the Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite at Terre Haute.

He also assisted with Boy Scouts and DeMolay. He was a member of Hanna Street Baptist Church, American Legion and an Army veteran.

A celebration of life is set for 11 a.m.-3 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 10 at Hanna Street Baptist Church, 501 E. Hanna St., Greencastle. Masonic services are set for noon.

In lieu of flowers, gifts may be sent in Jim’s memory to the Alzheimer’s Association.

Cremation services were provided by Stevens Mortuary, Indianapolis.
