Cora Margurite ‘Margy’ Reed

Cora Margurite “Margy” Reed, 93, of Greencastle went home to be with her Lord on Saturday, Aug. 10, 2019, at her residence.

Cora was born in Putnam County on Oct. 31, 1925, the daughter of Peter and Effie (Taylor) Sutherlin.

She attended Greencastle High School.

Margy was the oldest living member of the Hanna Street Baptist Church. She was a loving mother and grandmother who enjoyed every minute with her family.

Survivors include two children, Rebecca Billingsley and husband Patrick of Greencastle and Mark Timothy Reed and wife Vickie of Greencastle; daughter-in-law Carol Reed of Plainfield; six grandchildren Jennifer Hopkins and husband Sean of Orlando, Fla., Michael David Clark of Greencastle, Mark Christopher Reed and wife Kimberly of Brazil, Stephanie Hayes and husband Frank of Carbon, Ashley Hatton and husband Greg of Jasonville and Jeffrey Howard Reed of Greencastle; eight great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 48 years, George L. Reed; a son, George Peter Reed; and 11 siblings.

Services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Aug. 16 at Bittles and Hurt Funeral Home with pastors Terry Herbert and Patrick Smith officiating. Burial will follow in Boone-Hutcheson Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 4-8 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 15 and one hour prior to time of service on Friday.
