County Jail

Four people were booked in the Putnam County Jail recently.

Monday

• At 12:27 a.m. Macy Alan Fordice, 33, Russellville, was lodged at the jail for driving with a BAC of .08 or more, driving with a suspended license and leaving the scene of a property-damage crash.

Saturday

• At 8:31 p.m. Marisa Renea Trueblood, 21, Rockville, was housed at the jail for driving with a BAC of .08 or more

• At 1:36 a.m. Paul Christopher Vogel, 34, Brazil, was lodged at the jail on a local warrant.

Friday

• At 10:03 a.m. Michael Anthony Miller II, 25, Plainfield, was booked in on a pair of local warrants.

City Police

Greencastle city police made three recent arrests.

• At 11:55 a.m. on Sunday, Guy Parrish, 32, Greencastle, was taken into custody by Capt. Chris Jones.

Arrested at Walmart, Parrish was booked in the Putnam County Jail for theft at 12:06 p.m.

• At 3:15 p.m. on Saturday, Jason Grimes, 35, Greencastle, was taken into custody by Capt. Jones

Arrested on North County Road 100 East, Grimes was lodged at the Putnam County Jail at 3:39 p.m. for resisting law enforcement, a Putnam County warrant for theft, a Putnam County warrant for driving while intoxicated and on a Clay County warrant for theft.

• At 3:30 p.m. Friday, Nathan Kemper, 20, Indianapolis, taken into custody by Capt. Jones

Kemper was arrested on a Marion County warrant for possession of marijuana and booked in the Putnam County Jail at 3:34 p.m.

Sheriff’s Department

Putnam County sheriff’s deputies investigated two recent property-damage crashes.

• At 8:30 p.m. on Saturday, Edward J. Potora, 69, Roachdale, was eastbound on County Road 1400 North turning north onto County Road 550 East in a 1999 Chevrolet Malibu.

Potora told deputy Robert Soilleux his brakes failed and he lost control, leaving the edge of the road and hitting a post.

The car suffered front end and undercarriage damage and was towed. Soilleux estimated damage at $5,000-$10,000.

Potora said he was not injured and refused medical aid.

• At 5:50 p.m. on Saturday, Jacob R. Seiger, 16, Greencastle, called Putnam County Dispatch, reporting he had rolled his car.

Deputy Soilleux arrived at Seiger’s house, with Seiger telling him he had lost control on a gravel road. The 2004 Honda Civic had been fishtailing when it hit some gravel and rolled over, landing on its wheels.

Seiger told Soilleux he changed the flat rear passenger side tire and then drove home before calling in the crash. Seiger initially told Soilleux he did not remember the location of the crash.

He later called the deputy and said he was on County Road 550 West, 0.7 miles north of County Road 175 North.

Seiger and three other juveniles were in the car at the time of the wreck. All four boys said they were uninjured and refused any medical aid. The boys’ parents were notified, with medical checks advised.

Soilleux estimated damage at $5,000-$10,000.

City Fire

The Greencastle Fire Department responded to 15 recent dispatches:

• At 9:38 a.m. on Thursday, GFD was called to 607 Anderson St. for a follow-up on the recent fire that occurred there. Units arrived at the property at 9:42 and proceeded with investigators and signed a right to reenter the house. GFD returned to station at 10:56 a.m.

• At 10:05 a.m. on Thursday, GFD was dispatched to Bishop Roberts Hall at 807 S. College Ave. for a fire alarm. Firefighters arrived at 10:09 but found the alarm was caused by a dirty detector head. The alarm was then reset. GFD left at 10:24 a.m.

• At 2:31 p.m. on Thursday, GFD was dispatched to Humbert Hall at 208 E. Olive St. for a fire alarm. Firefighters arrived at 2:34 bur could not determine a cause for the alarm. The alarm was reset. GFD left at 2:41 p.m.

• GFD was dispatched to Beta Theta Pi at 415 Anderson St. on four consecutive runs Friday:

At 5 a.m., GFD was dispatched for a fire alarm. Firefighters arrived at 5:02 and determined the alarm had malfunctioned. The alarm was reset. GFD left at 5:14 a.m.

At 6:28 a.m., GFD returned to the fraternity for a fire alarm. Firefighters arrived at 6:30 ans again determined the alarm had malfunctioned. The alarm was reset. GFD left at 6:43 a.m.

At 6:59 a.m., GFD returned for another fire alarm. Firefighters arrived at 7:04 a.m. made the same determination, but were unable to reset the alarm. Personnel advised the house mother to contact maintenance, and left at 7:15 a.m.

At 7:44 a.m., GFD returned for another fire alarm. Firefighter arrived at approximately 7:45 and made the same determination. GFD left at 7:59 a.m.

• At 12:48 a.m. on Saturday, GFD was dispatched to 412 S. Indiana St. for a fire alarm. Firefighters arrived at 12:50 and determined the alarm was caused by smoking. The alarm was then reset. GFD left at 12:56 a.m.

• At 11:53 a.m. on Saturday, GFD was dispatched to Delta Upsilon at 626 E. Seminary St. for a smoke alarm. Firefighters arrived at 11:55 but could not determine a cause for the alarm. The alarm was reset. GFD left at 12:02 p.m.

• At 4:21 p.m. on Saturday, GFD was dispatched to Humbert Hall at 208 E. Olive St. for a fire alarm. Firefighters arrived at 4:23 and determined the alarm was due to body spray. The alarm was then reset. GFD left at 4:28 p.m.

• At 2:27 a.m. on Sunday, GFD was dispatched to 407 S. Jackson St. for a fire alarm. Firefighters arrived at approximately 2:28 and found that a candle had set off the alarm. The alarm was then reset. GFD left at 2:31 a.m.

• At 3:21 a.m. on Sunday, GFD was dispatched to Humbert Hall at 208 E. Olive St. for a fire alarm. Firefighters arrived at 3:23 and determined the alarm was due to body spray. The alarm was reset. GFD left at 3:30 a.m.

• At 10:40 a.m. on Sunday, GFD was dispatched to 1009 S. College Ave. for an unauthorized burn. Units arrived on the property at 11:44 and found a burning brush fire. GFD used a garden hose to extinguish the fire. As the occupants were not present, a note was left to contact GFD. Firefighters left at 11:04 a.m.

• At 3:23 p.m. on Sunday, GFD responded to a motor vehicle accident with injuries at 1864 E. C.R. 225 South. Units arrived on the scene at 3:30 and assisted emergency personnel with patient care. GFD returned to station at 3:55 p.m.

• At 6:24 p.m. on Sunday, GFD was dispatched to 109 W. Hanna St. for a fire alarm. Firefighters arrived at 6:26 and determined the alarm was due to cooking. The alarm was then reset. GFD left at 6:32 p.m.

Additionally, GFD performed 12 medical assists, had one disregard and had one false burn notification.
