City Fire

The Greencastle Fire Department responded to five recent dispatches:

• At 6:33 p.m. on Friday, GFD was dispatched to 420 Anderson St. for a fire alarm. Firefighters arrived at 6:37 and determined the alarm was due to smoking. The alarm couldn’t be reset, and so maintenance was called. GFD left at 6:47 p.m.

• At 8:06 p.m. on Friday, GFD was dispatched to 405 S. Jackson St. for a fire alarm. Firefighters arrived at 8:09 and determined the alarm was due to hair spray. The alarm was then reset. GFD left at 8:13 p.m.

• At 8:37 p.m. on Friday, GFD was dispatched to Humbert Hall for a fire alarm. Firefighters arrived at 8:42 and determined the alarm was caused by a dirty detector head. However, the detector head was unable to be detached. Maintenance was called, and GFD left at 8:54 p.m.

• At 1:28 p.m. on Saturday, GFD responded to a motor vehicle accident with injuries on Washington Street. Units arrived on the scene at 1:31 and assisted Operation Life with loading a pedestrian who had been hit. GFD went back into service at 1:48 p.m.

• At 1:48 p.m. on Monday, GFD responded to a motorcycle accident with injuries at the intersection of U.S. 240 and Percy L. Julian Drive. Units arrived on the scene at 1:52 and assisted Operation Life with loading the patient. GFD went back into service at 2:08 p.m.

Additionally, GFD performed two medical assists and had one disregard during this time.
