Final victim located in capsized boat incident on White River

MARTINSVILLE -- Indiana Conservation search crews have found the final victim in the recent boating incident on the White River in Morgan County.

Antonio Sanchez-Maldonado, 32, of Indianapolis, was reported Thursday to have been located just downstream from where the boat capsized in the river.

He is the fifth victim to be found in investigating the incident, which occurred this past Monday.

Indiana Conservation officers also recovered the bodies of Niseforo Sanchez, 63, of Mexico, and Rigoberto Conchas, 40, of Indianapolis, Tuesday afternoon.

Emilia Villegas, 73, of Mexico and six-year-old Amisadai Elel Conchas were first pulled from the water following the incident and pronounced dead Monday evening.

Seven people were originally in the boat, which was downstream from the Indianapolis Power & Light (IPL) dam on the river when it capsized and threw the occupants into the water.

The Indiana Department of Natural Resources (DNR) was assisted by the Morgan County Sheriff’s Department, Morgan County EMA, the Morgan County Coroner’s Office and the Green Township, Brown Township, Gregg Township, Harrison Township, Brooklyn, Paragon and Martinsville fire departments.
