After school enrichment available for students
Greencastle parents needing free learning assistance and enrichment for their children in grades five through eight now have a solution.
A 21st Century Community Learning Center Grant awarded to Greencastle Community Schools now provides a fully-funded after-school program.
The After School Enrichment (ASE) program is being conducted under the direction of Assistant Superintendent Donovan Garletts by Deborah Rode, a national board-certified teacher.
From 3-6 p.m. on Monday through Friday, the program offers physical activities (brain breaks), snacks, homework help, field trips, STEM and creative activities involving Legos, art projects, robotics, reading and writing throughout the year.
The supervision and teaching at the after-school program is provided by licensed teachers, DePauw University students, Greencastle High School National Honor Society members and volunteers.
Additionally, corporation buses deliver students home daily or parents may arrange for early pickup.
Registration for the ASE program is open and forms are available online.
Contact GMS principal Scott Weltz, Tzouanakis principal Jennifer Rhoades or the Rode at 812-878-9319 for more information.
