County Jail

Seven people were booked in the Putnam County Jail recently.

Wednesday

• At 8 p.m. Kelley M. Young, 50, Greencastle, was lodged at the jail for possession of marijuana, possession of paraphernalia and driving while intoxicated.

• At 1:02 p.m. Jeremy Wayne Shepherd, 29, Avon, was taken into custody for nonsupport of a dependent child.

Tuesday

• At 3:12 p.m. Randall Layne McMullin, 53, Greencastle, was housed at the jail for driving as a habitual traffic violator.

• At 2:04 p.m. Bahia Ray Bunge, 29, Cicero, was booked in for conspiracy to traffic with an inmate, dealing in a Schedule III controlled substance and possession of a controlled substance.

• At 12:30 p.m. Alec N. Clark, 42, Indianapolis, was lodged at the jail on a court order.

• At 8:01 a.m. Jesse Allen Pridemore, 31, Crawfordsville, was taken into custody on a court order.

• At 7:50 a.m. David Lee Webb, 56, Brownsburg, was booked in on a writ of body attachment.

Indiana State Police

Indiana State Troopers from the Putnamville Post made one recent arrest in Putnam County.

• Early Wednesday morning, Trooper Austin Fowler responded to a disabled vehicle on Westbound Interstate 70 near the 42-mile marker.

The driver, 38-year-old Gerald Robert Smith Jr., Indianapolis, tested positive for a controlled substance.

He was booked in the Putnam County Jail at 5:32 a.m. for driving while intoxicated.

City Fire

The Greencastle Fire Department responded to 14 recent dispatches:

• At 9:29 p.m. last Friday, GFD was dispatched to Alpha Tau Omega for a fire alarm. Firefighters arrived at 9:31 and found that a detector head was dirty. The detector was cleaned, and GFD left at 9:43 p.m.

• At 12:22 p.m. last Saturday, GFD was dispatched again to Alpha Tau Omega for a fire alarm. Firefighters arrived at 12:31 and found that a sauna was smoking. GFD used a thermal imagining camera and determined the sauna was extremely hot. Power to the sauna was isolated, and maintenance was contacted. The alarm was then reset. GFD left at 12:41 p.m.

• At 12:02 a.m. on Sunday, GFD was dispatched to 508 S. Jackson St. for a fire alarm. Firefighters arrived at 12:07 and were told the alarm had not gone off when smoke was present. GFD determined the alarm was working properly. GFD left at 12:16 a.m.

• At 1:12 a.m. on Sunday, GFD was dispatched to 418 Anderson St. for a fire alarm. Firefighters arrived at 1:17 but were unable to determine the cause of the alarm. The alarm was reset. GFD left at 1:24 a.m.

• At 1:12 a.m. on Sunday, GFD was dispatched again to 508 S. Jackson St. for a fire alarm. Firefighters arrived at 1:24 and determined the alarm was due to cooking. The alarm was then reset. GFD left at 1:30 a.m.

• At 9:22 p.m. on Monday, GFD was dispatched to 109 W. Hanna St. for a fire alarm. Firefighters arrived at 9:24 and determined the alarm was due to smoking. The alarm was then reset. GFD left at 9:30 p.m.

• At 10:19 p.m. on Monday, GFD was dispatched to 126 W. Berry St. for a fire alarm. Firefighters arrived at 10:21 and monitored the inside for gas. The alarm was turned off. GFD left at 10:35 p.m.

• At 1:49 p.m. on Tuesday, GFD responded to a vegetation fire at 89 Briarwood Ct. Firefighters arrived at 1:56 to find that straw had caught fire. GFD had the fire under control at 2:02 p.m. GFD went back into service at 2:21 p.m.

• At 4:04 p.m. on Tuesday, GFD responded to a motor vehicle accident with injuries at the intersection of Columbia and Indiana streets. Units arrived on the scene at 4:06 and assisted with patient care. GFD went back into service at 4:28 p.m.

• At 3:49 a.m. on Wednesday, GFD was dispatched to 418 Anderson St. for a fire alarm. Firefighters arrived at 3:56 but could not determine the cause of the alarm. The alarm was reset. GFD left at 4:05 a.m.

• At 11:37 a.m. on Wednesday, GFD was dispatched to 414 S. Indiana St. for a fire alarm. Firefighters arrived at 11:41 and determined the alarm was due to cooking. The alarm was then reset. GFD left at 11:45 a.m.

• At 5:06 p.m. on Wednesday, GFD was called to 93 Woodhaven Dr. for a cooking fire. Firefighters arrived at 5:12 to find that a Dutch oven had sustained a fire. A dry chemical was applied, and possible extensions were checked. GFD went back into service at 5:19 p.m.

• At 8:44 p.m. on Wednesday, GFD was dispatched to Humbert Hall for a fire alarm. Firefighters arrived at 8:49 and determined the alarm was due to burnt popcorn. The alarm was then reset. GFD left at 8:59 p.m.

• At 8:46 p.m. on Wednesday, GFD was dispatched to 405 S. Jackson St. for a fire alarm. Firefighters arrived at 8:48 but were unable to gain access to the rooms where the alarm was located. GFD reset the alarm, and maintenance came and checked the rooms. GFD left at 9:22 p.m.

Additionally, GFD performed 11 medical assists during this time.
