Trooper captures 100 kg of cocaine in Wednesday stop
An Indiana State Police trooper assigned to the Drug Enforcement Section’s Criminal Interdiction Unit made a significant drug seizure on Interstate 70 near State Road 39 on Wednesday.
Just before 3 p.m., the trooper pulled over a semi-tractor trailer for commercial motor carrier compliance check. During the course of the stop, the trooper noticed indicators of potential criminal activity.
A subsequent investigation and search of the semi-tractor trailer revealed four aftermarket hidden compartments in both the tractor and the trailer.
Approximately 100 kilograms of cocaine was found in the compartments inside the tractor. Approximately 130 pounds of high-grade marijuana were also discovered inside a false wall inside the trailer.
The driver, 52 year-old John Jay Jackson, of Michigan, was arrested on the following preliminary charges: Level 2 felony dealing cocaine, Level 3 felony possession of cocaine, Level 5 felony dealing marijuana and Level 5 felony possession of marijuana.
Jackson was transported to the Hendricks County Jail, where he was incarcerated. Actual criminal charges will be determined by the Hendricks County Prosecutor’s Office.
