County Jail

Seven people were booked in the Putnam County Jail recently.

Saturday

• At 7:09 a.m. Brodie Alexander Prim, 21, Indianapolis, was lodged at the jail on a local warrant.

• At 2:10 a.m. Evan Rhys Pershing, 26, Terre Haute, was taken into custody on a local warrant.

Friday

• At 10:35 p.m. Kobe Davis, 20, Indianapolis, was lodged at the jail on a local warrant.

• At 5:25 p.m. Marie Elaine Beaman, 54, Greencastle, was taken into custody for possession of methamphetamine, maintaining a common nuisance, conspiracy to cultivate marijuana, dealing in marijuana, possession of marijuana and possession of paraphernalia.

• At 1:03 p.m. Rebecca Ann Tanksley, 36, Clayton, was housed at the jail for possession of methamphetamine, obstruction of justice and on an out-of-county warrant.

Thursday

• At 5:42 p.m. Ashley Heather Wagner, 34, Brazil, was booked in on two counts of nonsupport of a dependent.

• At 3:45 p.m. Jacob Guy Wood, 24, Indianapolis, was lodged at the jail on two counts of theft and possession of paraphernalia.

City Police

Four persons -- two men and two juveniles – were arrested Friday by Officer Zach Rhine, Greencastle City Police reported.

Arrested following a 10:53 p.m. traffic stop in the 1000 block of Fawnview Drive were:

• Austin Souders, 18, Greencastle, for possession of a handgun without a permit.

• Chandler Souders, 20, Greencastle, for false informing, assisting a criminal and making a false identity statement.

Police were dispatched initially to Castlebury Apartments for a reported disturbance when the vehicle reportedly involved was seen leaving the scene as police arrived.

Officer Rhine pulled the vehicle over a short time later because it had no functioning lights.

Confiscated during the arrest were two handguns, marijuana, controlled substances and THC vape cartridges stowed inside a lunch box.

Both Souders suspects were lodged in the Putnam County Jail.

Sheriff’s Department

Putnam County sheriff’s deputies investigated two recent property-damage crashes.

• At 8:45 p.m. on Sunday, Deputy Matt Biggs was dispatched to an accident at Casey’s gas station in Bainbridge.

Brian D. O’Donnell, Roachdale, said his 2010 Ford Expedition had been parked in a spot on the east side of the lot. While he was in the store, someone told him that his SUV had rolled into another unoccupied vehicle.

The second vehicle was a 2005 Nissan Pathfinder registered to William Arnold, Greencastle.

O’Donnell said he was unsure if the vehicle was in park or not.

Biggs estimated damage at $2,500-$5,000.

• At 4:58 a.m. on Friday, Tiffany Peelman, 30, Terre Haute, was westbound on U.S. 40 in a 2006 Chevrolet Silverado when she hit a deer.

Deputy Tanner Brown estimated damage at $2,500-$5,000.

City Fire

The Greencastle Fire Department responded to seven recent dispatches:

• At 12:44 p.m. on Friday, GFD responded to a motor vehicle accident with injuries near 324 Melrose Ave. Units arrived on the scene at 12:47 and assisted with the injured. GFD went back into service at 1:12 p.m.

• At 12:12 a.m. on Saturday, GFD was dispatched to Beta Theta Pi for a fire alarm. Firefighters arrived at about 12:13 and determined the alarm was due to smoking. The alarm was then reset. GFD left at 12:19 a.m.

• At 12:23 a.m. on Saturday, GFD was dispatched to 1155 Horseshoe Dr. for a smoke scare. Firefighters arrived at 12:27 and were advised smoke was coming from a water heater. GFD was unable to detect any smoke. GFD went back into service at 12:38 a.m.

• At 12:33 p.m. on Saturday, GFD responded to a call for a dumpster fire behind Casa Grande. Firefighters arrived there at 12:42 and had the fire under control by 12:45. GFD informed the manager of further safety steps, and went back into service at 12:57 p.m.

• At 1:39 p.m. on Saturday, GFD was dispatched to 304 S. Indiana St. for a fire alarm. Firefighters arrived at 1:42 and determined the alarm was due to cooking. The alarm was then reset. GFD left at 1:48 p.m.

• At 4:45 p.m. on Saturday, GFD was dispatched again to Beta Theta Pi for a fire incident. Firefighters arrived at the fraternity at about 4:46 to find that mulch was on fire, possibly due to a cigarette being thrown. The fire was put out at 4:50, and GFD returned to station soon after.

• At 8:45 p.m. on Sunday, GFD was dispatched to 109 W. Hanna St. for a fire alarm. Firefighters arrived at 8:48 and determined the alarm was due to smoking. The alarm was then reset. GFD left at 8:56 p.m.

Additionally, GFD performed nine medical assists and had two disregards during this time.
