Tuesday, September 24, 2019

Clarence “Sonny” Findley Moser II, 61, of Greencastle, passed away Monday, Sept. 23, 2019 surrounded by his family.

Sonny was born in Salem, Va. in 1958, the son of Clarence and Ruby (Burton) Moser.

He was a graduate of South Putnam High School in 1977 and spent the last 52 years in Greencastle.

He is survived by three sisters, Ellen (Moser) Helton (Gary), Martha Ann Moser (Floyd Briggs) and Lenna Moser (Larry Remley). Although he had no children of his own, his nephew Nathan Hubbard (Jean Teng) and nieces Lindsey (Hubbard) Somers (Liam) and Cassidy Haidle were his world. He loved sharing photos and stories of their accomplishments with others.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Steve Moser.

If you were fortunate enough to be in Sonny’s inner circle, you understood his devotion to the people and teams he cared about most. His dedication could be seen in his support for the “Cubbies,” a traditionally losing team that he cherished, no matter the score.

Please join his family in celebrating Sonny’s life with visitation from 4-8 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 26 at Hopkins-Rector Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Sept. 27 at the funeral home, with burial to follow in Forest Hill Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, consider blood donations to help others in need. This was a cause Sonny cared about deeply.
