Oktoberfest fun on tap Oct. 5 at St. Paul’s

The sixth annual Oktoberfest event is scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 5 at St. Paul’s Catholic Church in Greencastle.

The Knights of Columbus-sponsored public event unfolds from 4-11 p.m. at 202 E. Washington St. with music from 7-11 p.m.

“This is the 6th year for Oktoberfest,” spokesman Matt Welker said, “we’re very happy the event keeps growing and more and more people keep enjoying Oktoberfest.”

The idea behind the annual event is to bring the community and the parish together for a day of fun and fundraising.

“Oktoberfest is a great festival for our parish, it serves as a homecoming for our parish, it also brings the community together, all are welcome at Oktoberfest,” Welker said. “We also view it as a form of evangelization. The Knights of Columbus sponsor the event and it is our biggest fundraiser annually. Funds from the event go to many worthwhile local charities. Please come have fun at Oktoberfest and thank you for your support.”

Both indoor and outdoor activities are planned. The event features live music, games of chances, raffle drawings, children’s activities, food, beer (craft and domestic) and wine.

Besides bingo, the church will also host a number wheel, poker booth and pull tabs.

Raffle drawing prizes will include Colts, Notre Dame and Purdue football tickets, Indiana University basketball tickets, as well as tickets for golf, restaurant gift certificates and more.

Children’s activities -- including a bounce house, face painting, games and prizes -- are scheduled from 4-8 p.m.
