The monstrous art event that brought downtown to life during Halloween last year is back and is looking for artists of all ages.

Individuals and teams are invited to decorate windows around the square and winners will receive prize packages for spookiest creation, best hometown spirit and more.

The Greencastle Civic League is sponsoring the event, in partnership with the Greencastle Arts Council.

There is no fee to decorate, but individuals and groups need to secure a spot by Oct. 11 by emailing greencastlecivicleagueinc@gmail.com.

Businesses will be paired with artists, and the decorating will take place Oct. 25-27.

Awards will be presented at 5 p.m. on Halloween.

“The business community is excited about this opportunity to showcase local art,” Civic League President Megan Linneweber said. “We would love to see more of the community take advantage of this opportunity to have a little fun and highlight our creativity.”

Committed businesses include Eli’s Bookstore, Scoops, Prime Real Estate Group, Family Support Services, RE/MAX Cornerstone, Shuee’s, Abstract & Title, the Banner Graphic, Bridges, Eitel’s & Co. Florist, Old National Bank, Putnam County Convention & Visitors Bureau, TapHouse Burgers, Wasser Brewing Company, Moore’s Bar and Restaurant and Almost Home.

Other downtown businesses that would like to contribute the use of windows or provide donations for prize winners can contact the Civic League at greencastlecivicleagueinc@gmail.com.
