City candidates forum slated for Wednesday, Oct. 9

Thursday, October 3, 2019

With contested races slated for five of the nine positions up for grabs on the ballot, several local organizations are partnering to allow the Greencastle community to learn more about the candidates for city office.

The Greencastle League of Women Voters, WGRE 91.5 FM and the Banner Graphic are co-sponsoring a candidates forum for all city candidates at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 9.

The event will take place at the Watson Forum in the Pulliam Center for Contemporary Media on DePauw’s campus. The forum will also be broadcast live on WGRE 91.5 and on Greencastle’s local cable access Channel 3.

Candidates for contested City Council races in attendance will be Third Ward nominees Veronica Pejril and Haywood Ware, Fourth Ward nominees Cody Eckert and Steve Snyder and at-large candidates Matt Cummings, Mark Hammer, Gary Lemon, Harry Maginity and Dave Murray. At-large candidate Tyler Wade will not be in attendance.

Four unopposed incumbents will also attend: Mayor Bill Dory, Clerk-Treasurer Lynda Dunbar, First Ward Councilman Adam Cohen and Second Ward Councilor Stacie Langdon.

Each candidate will have the opportunity to make statements of their own, as well as answer questions from a panel composed of members from the League of Women Voters, WGRE and the Banner Graphic.

At the conclusion of the forum, audience members will be allowed to ask questions of the candidates.

Refreshments will be served.
