NEW MARKET -- The man accused of robbing the Greencastle Pizza King and multiple other crimes in neighboring counties was taken into custody following a two-hour standoff Friday evening.

Indiana State Police report that at around 6 p.m. Friday, members of the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office, ISP Lafayette Post, U.S. Marshals and ISP Central Emergency Response Team arrested Devin Ewoldt, 33 of Bunker Hill, on three active warrants out of Boone and Montgomery counties.

While no warrants have been issued in either case, authorities also believe Ewoldt to have committed recent armed robberies in Putnam and Owen counties.

Trooper David Millburg advised that at approximately 4 p.m. officers arrived at 4299 West 700 South in Montgomery County to attempt to place Ewoldt into custody. At that point he ran into the house and would not exit the residence.

Police initially tried to contact Ewoldt by phone but were unsuccessful. After about two hours, he came out of the residence and surrendered to officers. He was placed under arrest, was read the warrants and transported to the Montgomery County Jail.

The two warrants out of Montgomery County were for habitual traffic violator and possession of methamphetamine. The warrant out of Boone County was for armed robbery and intimidation with a weapon.

Ewoldt has kept police in area counties busy in recent weeks.

The first incident in which he was allegedly involved was an Aug. 5 traffic pursuit west of Crawfordsville. Ewoldt and a female companion evaded police by going off road and even totalling a Crawfordsville Police Department car.

The female, 42-year-old Mandy Jones of Crawfordsville, was taken into custody a few days later.

The next incident allegedly involving Ewoldt was the armed robbery of the Dollar General Store in Gosport on Monday, Sept. 23.

Then on Saturday, Sept. 28, the case came on the radar in Putnam County when Ewoldt allegedly robbed the Greencastle Pizza King on Bloomington Street.

Later that evening, a suspect matching the same description as as the other robbers and wearing the exact same clothes as he had in the Greencastle incident robbed a Dollar General Store in Lebanon.

The suspect in each incident was captured on video security systems. With the help of the public, the suspect was quickly identified as Ewoldt.

Since that time, area police have been on the lookout for Ewoldt. While his most current address is in Miami County, he also has a past address in Crawfordsville.

No information is currently available on if or when Ewoldt will be formally charged with the Greencastle robbery.
