Loretta T. Crague Martin

Loretta T. Crague Martin, 94, of Brazil, passed away while living at Vermillion County Convalescent Center, in Clinton, on Saturday, Oct. 12, 2019.

She was born in Brazil on June 30, 1925, the daughter of William Edward and Helen M. (Brunett) Pearce.

She graduated from Brazil High School with the class of 1942.

During World War II Loretta worked for Allison Transmission. Once the men came home from war, Loretta gained employment with DePaw University as a housekeeper.

Loretta was a devout member of the Annunciation Church until her illness kept her away. She is a lifetime member of the VFW. She is a former member of the Eagles and the Moose.

She enjoyed watching sports, gardening, fishing, dancing and singing.

Loretta was preceded in death by two husbands: James F. Crague and William Martin; daughter Mary Jane Summers; son James Edward Crague; grandchildren Travis Crague and Hubert Summers Jr.; great-great-granddaughter Jamee Lawson; and siblings Bernard Pearce, Marie Hardman, John Pearce, Charles Pearce, Margurite Miller, Helen Pearce, Mary Lashbrook and Edward Pearce.

Loretta is survived by her children, Chester Crague and wife Kathy of Rosedale, Loretta Anne Lawson of Carbon, Cathy Lairmore of Carbon, Fred Crague and wife Kathy of Brazil and John Crague; 19 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and extended family members.

Visitation will be at French Funeral Home, 421 E. National Ave., Brazil, on Wednesday, Oct. 16 from 4-7:30 p.m. Rosary will be held at the funeral home at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday. Mass will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Annunciation Catholic Church with Father Hollowell officiating. Burial will follow at Clear Run Cemetery in Bridgeton.
