PUTNAMVILLE — A former food service employee at Putnamville Correctional Facility was arrested recently for allegedly engaging in a sexual relationship with an offender.

The investigation by the Indiana Department of Correction (IDOC) resulted in the October 8 arrest of Sheila Power, 49 Poland.

Prison officials started investigating Power, an Aramark employee, after receiving allegations of the inappropriate relationship.

Power was arrested on a warrant for Level 5 felony sexual misconduct by a service provider and Level 6 felony official misconduct.

She was booked in the Putnam County Jail on Tuesday, Oct. 8.

“We have a zero tolerance policy on this type of misconduct by any employees or contract employees providing services to our facilities,” IDOC Internal Affairs Lead Investigator James Smith said. “We will vigorously investigate and seek prosecution of any person alleged to be engaged in criminal actions with offenders.”

Formal charges have yet to be determined by the Putnam County Prosecutor’s Office.
