Cloverdale FFA finds success in recent competitions

The Cloverdale FFA chapter had a busy last few days of September and into the beginning of this October.

On Sept. 27, the FFA took 28 members to the Ivy Tech campus in Terre Haute to compete in the annual Cob & Cog competition. With teams of four students, Cloverdale competed in seven different contests.

Cloverdale FFA had an outstanding day, winning two of the seven competitions. Winning the Food Science event were Morgan Goss, Gabby Roberts, Angel Franklin and Sarah Baker. Winning the GPS Mapping contest were Ashton Betz, Phoebe McDonald, Sydney Willis and Macie Couch.

On Oct. 1, the Cloverdale FFA chapter took three teams of students to the annual Area Soils competition. The contest was held in Clay County this year.

Cloverdale came away from the competition with first, fourth and sixth place in the event, with all three teams qualifying to represent the chapter at the State FFA Soils competition to be held in Adams County on Oct. 19. Brady Mann was also the first-place individual in the competition.

The first-place team was Will Roberts, Jordan Opiela, Brady Mann and Kedrick Coon. The fourth-place team was Ella Rightmyer, Sadie Priest, Emily Sims and Chloe Couch. The sixth-place team was Paige Givens, Kat Hornbuckle, Max Kaufman and Ryan Walton.
