Sheriff’s Department

Putnam County Deputies investigated one recent property-damage crash.

• At 6:38 p.m. Friday, Brennan C. Barnes, 32, Greencastle, was northbound on County Road 600 West approaching the intersection with County Road 500 South in a 2014 Equinox.

The traffic pattern gives northbound traffic the right-of-way to continue onto 500 South. Southbound traffic, however, has to stop at the intersection.

Barnes told Deputy Daniel Birt he was approaching the intersection when a blue Saturn car driven by an unknown male was southbound. The car reportedly disregarded the stop sign and turned right in front of Barnes, striking his vehicle.

The car, which Barnes could not identify as a coupe or sedan, hit the passenger front quarter panel and front passenger side bumper of the Equinox. The impact caused the Saturn to rise up on the SUV and leave an imprint from its driver’s side mirror across the hood of the Equinox.

The Saturn then continued westbound, hitting a mailbox and hydroplaning as it sped away.

Birt estimated damage at $2,500-$5,000.

• At 7:45 p.m. on Monday, GFD was dispatched to 508 S. Indiana St. for a fire alarm. Firefighters arrived at 7:48 and determined the alarm was due to cooking. The alarm was then reset. GFD left at 7:51 p.m.
