Together Again

After a photo of the three of them went viral back in January, Congressmen Jim Baird (R-Greencastle), Dan Crenshaw and Brian Mast reunite earlier at an Indiana Republican fundraiser. Mast, who lost both his legs and and finger in Afghanistan, got national attention when he tweeted a photo of the three men with the caption “5 eyes. 5 arms. 4 legs. All American.” Mast represents Florida in the House of Representatives. Crenshaw, of Texas, lost an eye in Afghanistan. Baird, a Greencastle resident, lost his left arm in Vietnam.

why did Jim Baird vote for immigration policy that would change the number and way that H1B visas are issued, effectively allowing an unlimited number of Indian immigrants to come to this country and take IT jobs away from Americans?

Jim Baird serves Jim Baird and the Republican party.

He does not serve you, the general public.

  • I would encourage you to be open to the concept that IT jobs are not being lost. Matter of fact, most companies I speak with across the country have a hard time finding qualified IT employees and would be in even a deeper bind if global candidates weren't available.

I would encourage you to be open to the concept that H1B visa abuse is a very real thing.

IT companies claim they "can't find" qualified Americans, therefore they need to hire foreigners to come here to do the work.

Then the company uses the greencard as a weapon to force the foreign worker to work for less than any American would.

Jim Baird voted in favor of MORE H1B immigration.

  • So I can see you aren't open to discussion, just a fire back. I can say in my industry, if not for immigrant workers, a daily cost for all would be 30-50% higher in cost. In addition, the immigrants aren't stealing jobs. Employers can't find current citizens to do the work or work hard.

Abuse is occurring. Does in all things. Can't control greed inside of people. I believe in using a balance scale.

Many people making great money at jobs in the US that are not from the US.

A common sense approach usually results in an outcome that is more positive than negative. Sadly, neither side of the political spectrum believe in that anymore. As a Reagan Republican, I really find it sad.
