Pastor John J. Cloe Jr.

Pastor John J. Cloe, Jr., 79, of Greencastle, passed away on Saturday, Oct. 19, 2019.

Graveside service will be held at Crownland Cemetery in Noblesville, on Wednesday, Oct. 23 at 1 p.m. with Karl Hinkle officiating. A celebration of life will follow immediately after at First United Methodist, 2051 Monument St., Noblesville.

A second celebration of life will take place on Saturday, Nov. 2 at Oak Grove Baptist Church in Poland at 11 a.m. with Rev. Jim Walter officiating.

John was born on Aug. 13, 1940 in Indianapolis to John and Dorothy Cloe.

John attended Oakland City College, receiving a degree in divinity.

For 36 years, John was a master farrier, graduating from North Texas Farrier School. He was a member of The Indiana Farrier’s Association since 1983. John was also a member of IQHA, AQHA, IQHRA, APHA and the Indiana Horse Council.

He served as Associate Pastor at Eagle Creek Friends for 10 years. John and his wife Judy own and have operated an Equine Management company for the last 28 years.

John also served as an occasional interim pastor at Big Walnut Baptist Church. Over the last seven years, John has been the Senior Pastor at the Oak Grove Baptist Church.

John is survived by Judy, his wife of 38 years; his sister, Sandra Ann Ault of Hartford, Ky.; his son, John J. Cloe III (Mandi) of Petersburg; and his daughter, Margaret Jane “Meg” Cloe of Indianapolis. John has three step-children, 14 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

John was preceded in death by, his parents, brother Thomas Allen Cloe and daughters Elizabeth Ann Cloe and Amy Lynn Cloe.

In lieu of flowers the family has requested memorial contributions be made to Special Olympics, Marion County West, 5760 Noble Drive, Indianapolis, IN 46234 or the American Cancer Society.
