Edna L. Shillings

Edna L. Shillings, 90, of Greencastle, passed away on Tuesday, Oct. 22, 2019, at Mill Pond Health Campus.

Edna was born in Greencastle on July 29, 1929, the daughter of Ernest and Mary E. (Alvord) Rader.

She was a 1948 graduate of Greencastle High School. She studied at Indiana Business College.

On Feb. 24, 1952 she married Alva Shillings. He preceded her in death in 1997.

Mrs. Shillings was a lifetime member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary and a member of the Women of the Moose. She loved playing bingo and, in her earlier years, bowling.

Survivors include her son Lyle (Sharlene) Shillings of Brazil; a daughter-in-law, Vicky Shillings of Greencastle; six grandchildren, Chad (Mary Love) and Adam (Kelly) Shillings, both of Brazil, Amanda (Tim) McKinney of Jenks, Okla., Ron (Chastine) Shillings of Greencastle, Brad (Carrie) Shillings of Rockville and Missy (Neil) O’Hair of Bainbridge; 18 great-grandchildren; and four great-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Alva Shillings; a son, Dale Shillings; three brothers, Vurlin, Maurice, and Kenny Rader; and a sister, Dorothy Sillery.

Services will be held 1 p.m. Friday, Oct. 25 at Hopkins-Rector Funeral Home with Pastor Allen Henderson officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Hill Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home from 11:00 a.m. until time of service Friday.
