County Jail

One person was booked in the Putnam County Jail Thursday.

• At 8:16 a.m. Donald Ferguson McCormick, 32, Greencastle, was lodged at the jail for invasion of privacy.

City Fire

The Greencastle Fire Department responded to six recent dispatches:

• At 12:11 p.m. on Monday, GFD was dispatched to 709 Terrace Lane for a smoke scare. Firefighters arrived at 12:18 to find that an oven had malfunctioned for unknown reasons. The property was ventilated, and GFD went back into service at 12:32 p.m.

• GFD was dispatched to Chiyoda U.S.A. Corp. on two consecutive runs on Monday:

- At 6:08 p.m, GFD was dispatched due to an accidental alarm activation. Firefighters arrived at 6:16 and were advised the alarm was set off as it was being reset. GFD returned to station at 6:27 p.m.

- At 11:20 p.m., GFD was called again to Chiyoda for a report of smoke coming from the area of the fire which occurred previously. Firefighters arrived at 12:07 a.m. and were advised damaged equipment was still smoking. GFD doused the chimney above the area, and then returned to station at 12:56 a.m. Tuesday morning.

• At 3:41 p.m. on Tuesday, GFD was dispatched to 702 Monon Ct. for a cooking fire. Firefighters arrived at 3:43 to find that an oven had malfunctioned due to unknown causes, but the fire was contained to the oven and was out before their arrival. The gas was shut off and the property was ventilated. GFD went back into service at 4:14 p.m.

• At 10:16 p.m. on Tuesday, GFD was dispatched to Phi Kappa Psi for a fire alarm. Firefighters arrived at 10:17 and determined the alarm was due to smoking. The alarm was then reset. GFD left at 10:25 p.m.

• At 5:45 a.m. on Thursday, GFD was dispatched to 2826 S. CR 150 West for an individual who was locked out of their home. Units arrived at 5:54 but found that entry had already been gained. GFD went back into service at 5:58 a.m.

• At 6:47 p.m. on Thursday, GFD was dispatched to 412 S. Indiana St. for a fire alarm. Firefighters arrived at 6:50 and determined the alarm was due to cooking. The alarm was then reset. GFD left at 6:56 p.m.

• At 3:02 a.m. on Friday, GFD received a call for a person reported as being slumped over inside a vehicle at the Greencastle McDonald’s. Units arrived at 3:05 to find that the Greencastle Police Department was also there, but the person could not be found. GFD returned to station at 3:11 a.m.

Additionally, GFD performed seven medical assists during this time, as well as a motor vehicle accident where assistance from GFD was not needed.
