Marleen Kay Ames

Marleen Kay Ames, 83, of Fillmore, passed away on Monday, Oct. 28, 2019 from complications of Parkinson’s Disease.

She was born Aug. 18, 1936 in Greencastle, the daughter of Morris “Harry” and Gladys (Keller) Tharp and was a 1954 graduate of Fillmore High School.

Marleen was a farm wife and homemaker. She had also worked as a secretary with the Indiana Boys School in Plainfield.

She was a member of the Fillmore United Methodist Church and the Club 16 Homemakers Club.

Marleen is survived by her husband, Kenneth “Kenny” Ames; sons Kerry (Corliss) Ames, Kim (Gina) Ames and Kent (Karen) Ames; a daughter, Lisa (Jerry) Long; eight grandchildren, Kyle (Melissa) Ames, Kole (Brandy) Ames, Hannah (Garrett) Brooks, Ethan Ames, Ashley Ames, Michael (Lori) McCammack, Gabrielle McCammack and Luke Ames; 14 great-grandchildren; and sisters-in-law Gail Tharp and Carolyn Parker.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Donald Tharp DDS.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 2 at the Fillmore United Methodist Church. Interment will follow at the Fillmore Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. on Saturday until time of service at the church.
