Man stable following Saturday-morning crash
A man is listed in stable condition after being airlifted from the scene of a single-vehicle crash Saturday morning south of Greencastle.
Excessive speed is believed to have been a factor when Cody Bruner’s 2014 Dodge Charger left U.S. 231 near County Road 350 South and collided with a post, then a large tree.
The vehicle was heavily damaged, with Bruner treated first by Operation Life paramedics then airlifted with serious injuries to an Indianapolis hosptial by a StatFlight helicopter.
As of Monday, Deputy Matt Biggs’ most recent update on Bruner’s status was he was in stable condition.
Emergency personnel were dispatched to 3587 S. U.S. 231 at 6:29 a.m.
Patient assistance was rendered by Greencastle Fire Department as well as Operation Life, while Biggs investigated the crash with assistance from Deuputy Josh Boller.
The vehicle was towed from the scene by Curtis Wrecker Service.
In a Facebook post regarding the incident, the Putnam County Sheriff’s Department warned of the dangers of excessive speeds.
“Slow down and obey the speed limits please,” the post reads. “Deputies try to enforce traffic law as much as possible, but we still need your help in preventing these tragedies.”
