BAINBRIDGE — The North Putnam High School Thespian Society will be presenting the Woody Allen farce “Don’t Drink The Water” this weekend on Nov. 8 and 9, with curtain at 7 p.m.

Tickets are $7 for adults and $5 for students.

In an unnamed European country behind the Iron Curtain, the American Ambassador James F. Magee (Cameron Johnson) must leave the embassy for business. In his absence he places his incompetent son Axel Magee (Ethan Lawler) in charge, much to the disappointment of the ambassador’s assistant Ms. Kilroy (Grace Timm).

Almost immediately the embassy is thrust into a crisis as the Hollanders, an American family of tourists, come rushing in on the run from the communist police. Walter, the father (Kyle Young), had accidentally snuck into a high-security area and taken pictures, causing the communist to believe the family members are spies.

Walter, his wife Marion (Josie Lyons) and his daughter Susan (Grace Elmore) are trapped inside the embassy by the ruthless Special Agent Krojack (Lexanne Fuchs).

Axel digs the hole deeper and deeper, with a foreign dignitary the Sultan of Bashir (Dean Lepine) and his wife (Breanna Richardson), whom he must impress for his father.

Joining the madness is a priest who has been trapped in the embassy for six years, Father Drobney (Nate Copeland), an uptight Chef (Mady Williams), a secretary of the embassy (Taylor Hensley) and party goers Kasnar (Hannah Clodfelter) and a Countess (Mady Williams).

Leading the backstage crew is Clara Alford as the stage manager, with assistance from Jade Ensch and Sophia Letzow. The light board operator is Amber Schubert. Set design is by Linda Gjesvold, and tech is handled by Craig Armitage.

The Thespian sponsor is Jason Lafever and the play is directed by Dustin Bond.
