County Jail

One person was booked in the Putnam County Jail on Thursday.

• At 11:29 p.m. Jeffrey D. Cox, 47, Greencastle, was lodged at the jail for driving while intoxicated.

City Police

One recent arrest was reported by Greencastle City Police officers.

• At 11:13 p.m. Thursday, Adam Wells, 40, Indianapolis, was arrested by Capt. Charles Inman.

Stopped on East Franklin Street near Vine Street, Wells was charged with operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated and for driving with a suspended license with a prior offense.

Registering .10 percent blood-alcohol content under portable breathalyzer testing, Wells was lodged in the Putnam County Jail.

One recent citation was issued by city officers,

• At 8:56 p.m. Thursday, Christina Kerr, 36, Greencastle,was cited by Officer Elsiana Crosby for driving with a suspended license with a prior offense.

Kerr was stopped on Berry Street near College Avenue.

City Fire

The Greencastle Fire Department responded to six recent dispatches:

• At 10:24 p.m. on Wednesday, GFD was dispatched to Pi Beta Phi for a fire alarm. Firefighters arrived at 10:27 and determined the alarm was due to burnt popcorn. The alarm was then reset. GFD left at 10:37 p.m.

• At 10:08 a.m. on Thursday, GFD was alerted of a gas leak at the Prindle Institute for Ethics. Units arrived at 10:11 and found an excavator had struck a gas line. The Greencastle Police Department evacuated the Institute and GFD monitored the area. Vectren was notified, and GFD went back into service at 11:09 a.m.

• At 12:58 p.m. on Thursday, GFD was dispatched to a motor vehicle accident at the intersection of U.S. 231 and Veterans Memorial Highway. Units arrived on the scene at 1:04 p.m. and performed cleanup of coolant on the roadway. GFD went back into service at 1:31 p.m.

• At 6:05 p.m. on Thursday, GFD was dispatched to the Waters of Greencastle for a reported trash fire. Firefighters arrived at 6:10 p.m. and found linens smoldering. GFD extinguished them and then secured power to dryers. GFD went back into service at 6:33 p.m.

• At 6:10 p.m. on Thursday, GFD was dispatched to 330 Greenwood Ave. for a fire alarm. Firefighters arrived at 6:21 but could not gain entry to the room where the detector was located. GFD reset the alarm. GFD left at 6:39 p.m.

• At 9:19 p.m. on Thursday, GFD was dispatched to a motor vehicle accident without injuries on Franklin Street east of Vine Street. Units arrived on the scene at approximately 9:20 and found a driver who advised GFD of being uninjured and having a flat tire. GFD went back into service at 9:31 p.m.

Additionally, GFD performed seven medical assists and had three disregards during this time.
