Bi-state group to host annual crops conference

Purdue University Extension and University of Illinois Extension are collaborating to offer the annual Bi-State Crop Management Conference, being held at the Beef House Restaurant at 16501 Indiana State Road 63, Covington on Friday, Dec. 6.

Registration begins at 8:30 a.m. EST (7:30 a.m. CST), and the presenters will begin promptly at 9 a.m. EST.

This year’s lineup includes:

• 2019 Field Crop Disease Update from Darcy Telenko, Purdue Field Crop Pathology Specialist

­­­- Tar Spot of Corn, Fungicide Efficacy Trials, Fusarium Head Blight, Emerging Diseases

• Looking Ahead to Next Year’s Corn Crop with Bob Nielsen, Purdue Corn Specialist

- Lessons from 2019, Key Agronomic Decisions for 2020, Update on Corn Research

• 2019 Weed Management Update from Bill Johnson, Purdue Weed Science Specialist

- Controlling Herbicide Resistant Weeds, New Herbicide Traits, Label Changes for Xtend, Enlist Soybean Platforms

• U.S. Crop Outlook with Todd Hubbs, Department of Agriculture and Consumer Economics, University of Illinois

- Fundamental Drivers for Corn Soybean and Wheat Markets Over the Upcoming Year

The conference will include a break at noon to enjoy a Beef House buffet lunch and will conclude at 2 p.m. EST.

The cost for the program is $25, which includes lunch and is payable at the door. Education credits for Indiana Private Applicator, Certified Crop Adviser and Indiana Commercial Applicator programs have been applied for, and will be available for an additional $10 fee.
