County Jail

Eleven people were booked in the Putnam County Jail recently.

Sunday

• At 2:10 a.m. Clayton Andrew Stumler, 22, Fredricksburg, was lodged at the jail for driving with a BAC of .08 or more and for driving while intoxicated.

• At 12:32 a.m. Austin Jeffery Westerfield, 24, Greensburg, was taken into custody for public intoxication.

Saturday

• At 10:29 p.m. Leonard Lenshawn Love, 19, Indianapolis, was housed at the ail for disorderly conduct, public intoxication and for being a minor in consumption of alcohol.

• At 6:34 p.m. Melonie D. Lane, 45, Cloverdale, was booked in on a local warrant.

• At 2:29 a.m. Sheyda Dianne Ross Marie Fassari, 27, Nashville, was lodged at the jail for driving while intoxicated and driving while intoxicated endangering a person.

Friday

• At 11:56 p.m. Kaylie Danielle Harbour, 22, Bowling Green, was taken into custody for driving while intoxicated.

• At 6:07 p.m. Roy W. Hodges, 43, Coatesville, was housed at the jail for neglect of a dependent.

• At 2:43 p.m. Joshua James Wright, 29, Coatesville, was booked in on a writ of body attachment.

• At 10:58 a.m. Darrald De Wight Crosby, 52, Greencastle, was lodged at the jail on two counts of dealing in methamphetamine and two counts of possession of methamphetamine.

• At 9:58 a.m. Drake Carmine Best, 21, Plainfield, was taken into custody for dealing in a Schedule II controlled substance.

• At 9:52 a.m. Michael Thomas VanEvery, 39, Cloverdale, was housed at the jail for possessing a lookalike substance and on a local warrant.

City Police

Three recent arrests were reported by Greencastle City Police officers.

• At 1:02 p.m. Friday, Jimmie Virgin, 78, Coatesville, was arrested by Officer Brad Hiatt.

Virgin was arrested for theft at the Walmart store where he allegedly took more than $20 in merchandise.

Virgin, who was lodged in the Putnam County Jail, reportedly concealed fish oil pills and Blue Emu pain relief spray, valued at $20.72, in his jacket pockets and went past the last checkout counter in an attempt to leave the store.

• At 12:50 p.m. Saturday, Danielle Smith, 22, Hinsdale, Ill., was arrested by Officer Elsiana Crosby.

Stopped on Hanna Street near Jackson Street, Smith was arrested for public intoxication and lodged in the Putnam County Jail.

• At 4:25 p.m. Friday, Logan Campbell, 31, Greencastle, was arrested by Det. Matt Huffman.

Taken into custody on Jackson Street near Hanna Street, Campbell is facing a charge of voyeurism. He was lodged in the Putnam County Jail.

Sheriff’s Department

Putnam County sheriff’s deputies investigated nine recent property-damage crashes.

• At 5:53 p.m. on Sunday, Jo A. Lund, 64, Rockville, was westbound on U.S. 36 in a 2019 Chevrolet Traverse when she hit a deer.

Reserve Deputy Ken Rozelle estimated damage at $1,000-$2,500.

• At 5:39 a.m. on Sunday, Lydia A. O’Connor, 36, Greencastle, was southbound on U.S. 231 in a 2006 Saab 97 when she hit a deer.

The car was towed due to extensive front end damage. Deputy Josh Boller estimated damage at $5,000-$10,000.

• At 11:20 p.m. on Friday, Jeffery D. Souders, 34, Sullivan, was westbound on U.S. 40 in a 2012 Fiat 500 when he hit a deer.

Deputy Robert Soilleux estimated damage at $2,500-$5,000.

• At 6:49 p.m. on Friday, Charles E. Sanders, 33, Brazil, was northbound on Manhattan Road when a deer ran into the left front fender area of his 2012 Nissan Maxima.

Deputy Randy Patrick estimated damage at $5,000-$10,000. The vehicle was towed.

• At 6:01 p.m. on Friday, William D. Link, 20, Indianapolis, was northbound on U.S. 231 (Bloomington Street) approaching Veterans Highway in a 2008 Kia Sedona. Traffic was stopped at the stoplight, but Link did not get stopped in time, rear-ending a Greencastle Police Department car.

Officer Angela L. Taylor, 31, Cloverdale, was stopped in the 2010 Dodge Charger when the left front of Link’s car struck the right rear of her own.

Both vehicles were towed. Deputy Patrick estimated damage at $10,000-$25,000.

• At 4 p.m. on Friday, traffic was slowing on southbound on U.S. 231 as vehicle made a left turn onto Franklin Road.

Morgan J. Negley, 17, Greencastle, driving a 1998 Chevrolet 1500 said she was traveling approximately 55 mph and could not give an explanation for the incident. She did not see the vehicle stopped in front of her, rear-ending it and pushing it into the vehicle in front of it.

Richard T. Chew, 43, Cloverdale, told Deputy Boller he was stopped or slowing in a 2008 Ford F150 when he was rear-ended by Negley’s vehicle. The impact caused extensive damage to the rear portion of his truck and pushed him into the van stopped in front of him.

Katelyn J. Ross, 29, Cloverdale, was stopped in a 2010 Dodge Grand Caravan when Chew’s truck was pushed into her van, causing extensive damage to the rear of the van.

Chew was transported from the scene, complaining of back pain.

Negley’s and Chew’s vehicles were towed.

Boller estimated damage at $10,000-$25,000.

• At 3:30 p.m. on Friday, Karl Egold 18, Cloverdale, was northbound on U.S. 231 in a 2005 Ford Mustang. Faith N. Laws, 17, Fillmore, was also northbound in a 2009 Ford Fusion.

Both drivers told Deputy Matt Biggs that traffic came to an abrupt stop for a vehicle turning left. Laws braked rapidly and Egold was unable to stop in time to avoid rear-ending her vehicle.

Biggs estimated damage at $10,000-$25,000.

• At 12:23 p.m. on Friday, Tylor Maddox, 22, Bedford, southbound on U.S. 231 in a 2016 Chevrolet Cruze when he hit a deer.

Deputy Tanner Brown estimated damage at $5,000-$10,000.

• At 7:32 a.m. on Friday, Sarah Burdine, 28, Greencastle, was northbound on U.S. 231 in a 2003 Honda Odyssey when she hit a deer.

The vehicle was towed. Damage was estimated at $2,500-$5,000.
