Giving Tree seeking sponsors

Monday, November 25, 2019

The Putnam County Giving Tree effort is under way with organizers looking for sponsors for about 70 local families.

Any organization, business or individual wishing to sponsor a family is encouraged to call 301-6170 to learn more.

While some local churches taking part in the effort already have trees in place with the information of some of the children supported by the program, there will soon be trees in place at Gordman’s and Kroger off of which tags may be picked up to sponsor a child.

Once the item(s) on the tag are purchased, attach the tag and take it back to the location from which it was picked up originally.

All items need to be returned by the week of Dec. 9-13 for timely distribution.

Anyone unable to to stop by and do the shopping may make contributions to Putnam County Giving Tree, P.O. Box 251, Greencastle, IN 46135.

It is also asked that any church, club or organization that is helping families outside of the Putnam County Giving Tree program contact 301-6170 or 720-1739 and verify that the Giving Tree is not already helping that particular family. Organizers have all families in a database and it only takes a few minutes to check to see if families are already being assisted.

The Giving Tree has not turned away any families and has continued to help families after the deadline of sign-up.

If your church, club or organization would like to be involved, contact 301-6170 or 720-1739 as well.
