The Greencastle Department of Public Works will continue to pick up leaves from Monday, Dec. 2 to Friday, Dec. 6, weather permitting.

Due to the recent weather, the high winds of Tuesday evening, and the delay in many trees dropping their leaves, the annual leaf pick-up will be extended for an additional week.

Crews will follow the trash route pick-up schedule. If your trash is picked up on Monday, crews will be out on Monday in your neighborhood.

Weather, particularly snow, could delay leaf pick-up work.

Residents are reminded to rake their leaves to the tree line behind the curb. Do not rake leaves into the street. Also, do not include any twigs, branches, trash or plastic bags with the leaves.

  • The crews do a great service for the city with leaf pickup.

Do to rainy and cold weather and because I have had a chest cold for the the past 8 days, I had not been able to get the leaves ready for pickup until Monday and Tuesday of this week. On Monday afternoon @ 5:30 PM, I had prepared the first batch of leaves. When I checked the next morning at noon, they were gone. On Tuesday afternoon, I prepared the second and last batch. And yes, Wednesday morning they were gone.

Again, thanks for a job well done !
