State Rep. Beau Baird (R-Greencastle) is seeking public input ahead of upcoming roundtable meetings with several state agencies to discuss issues and projects affecting Putnam County and surrounding communities.

Baird, as well as local elected officials and key stakeholders, will meet in Greencastle with representatives from the Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT), the Indiana State Department of Health (ISDH) and the Indiana Department of Child Services’ (DCS) Region 9 agency.

Baird’s intent is to facilitate stronger relationships and deeper conversations with local communities, while hopefully resulting in more meaningful and impactful results.

“Residents who have specific questions and concerns in regard to these state agencies should contact me with their input,” Baird said. “As your elected official, I want to be your voice in doing whatever we can to address any matters affecting our communities.”

He said INDOT will provide updates on Putnam County road and bridge improvements that are being funded by the state’s Community Crossings Matching Grant program. Last month, the communities of Fillmore and Roachdale were awarded grants of $90,373 and $210,435 respectively.

Baird will also meet with DCS representatives to discuss changes being made by the new Region 9 agency director, including efforts to keep caseload sizes down so case managers can better focus on children.

“Not all state agencies operate out of Indianapolis,” Baird said. “We have dedicated public servants right here in our communities who help ensure a quality of life that meets our expectations and protects our most vulnerable. I give heartfelt thanks for their continuing efforts.”

The meetings are scheduled for Dec. 16, 17 and 20. Those with questions, comments or input for these agencies can contact Baird’s office at 317-232-9981 or H44@iga.in.gov.
